names.dev / for assistants
Your next name.
From your assistant.
Describe what you are building. Find useful naming directions, check the domain evidence, and refine the shortlist together.
Connect directly with remote MCP or HTTP tools. No names.dev account, API key, or Rufio setup is required for public searches.
01 / Connect
Add names.dev.
Use your assistant's remote MCP setting, or import the REST schema if it supports HTTP tools.
Server URL
https://api.names.dev/mcpChoose a remote MCP / HTTP server in your assistant's connection settings. Public tools need no API key.
Alternate direct endpoint: https://names-api-v2.nima-672.workers.dev/mcp
This direct endpoint avoids the canonical proxy's shared request allowance. The canonical alias is https://names.dev/api/mcp.
Setup syntax is documented for Codex and Claude Code. Instinct, Muse, Dots, GrokBot and other named clients have not been independently tested; use these instructions when your client supports remote MCP or HTTP tools.
02 / Ask
Make it a conversation.
Find a direction
names_searchFind distinctive names for a social running app. Favor .com and .app and keep the acquisition budget under $500.
Check a name
names_checkCheck ambitionlabs.com. Show the exact domain first, then source-labeled registration and marketplace evidence.
Refine the taste
names_refineThese feel too corporate. Keep the running-app brief, make the names more playful, and exclude the labels we already rejected.
Compare a shortlist
names_compareCompare the exact domain paths for my two favorite names. Show price, provider, freshness and uncertainty separately.
03 / Decide
Keep the evidence visible.
Your assistant receives the same name meanings, fit explanations and domain observations as the website. Registrar evidence and marketplace offers stay separate. Unknown information stays unknown; checkout remains with the source provider.
Public tools do not purchase, register, transfer domains, write DNS or access private accounts. Prices and availability can change. There is no trademark-clearance claim.
